When synthesizing peptides prone to side reactions during acidolytic cleavage, crude products of higher purity are obtained by applying Trt side chain protection in place of the standard tBu-type protecting groups. The Nε-Trt group is not sufficiently labile to permit its selective removal in the presence of Boc/tBu.
