Gymnemagenin is a triterpenoid isolated from G. sylvestre. Gymnemagenin is an agent for diabetes and obesity and also possesses antiviral properties[1][2]. In Vivo: Gymnemagenin has a poor oral bioavailability (~ 14 %) in rats[2].
Gymnemagenin has a short half-life and a high clearance in rats[2].
Gymnemagenin metabolizes rapidly with a short apparent and intrinsic half-life (~ 7 min) and high intrinsic clearance[2].
